pictures of exchange from Loretta

I was able to snap a few pictures in between rain showers today. I'm afraid they might be a bit blurry though. Loretta send me a needlekeeper, cross stitch notepaper, gold needles and a piece of fabric. The fabric inside of the needlekeeper is very elegant.

I appreciate all of it and will definitely use them.

Thank you, Karin!

My lovely parcel for the In the Garden exchange arrived yesterday from Karin in South Africa - a beautiful stitched top on a tin!  I didn't join in an Altoid tin exchange on another group as I was not confident of doing a good job, but would really have liked to receive one......and now I have!  Karin says it's her first attempt and she did a great job.  The weather has gone completely downhill since I posted earlier in the week and it's grey and rainy here so I'll take a photograph tomorrow of my sweet tin and the goodies I received.  Thank you again, dear friend!

It's in the mail..........................

I forgot to take my package with me yesterday but as of a few hours ago it is now in the mail system. Keep an eye on your mailboxes. You might be the one on the receiving end.

Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Lynn!

Beautiful day here, made even better by the parcel in my mail box from Lynn! Thank you, dear friend, it's lovely!  A very spring like little pillow which will look wonderful on the door that leads to the deck.  Apo logies for the photograph, you appear to be seeing a bit of the doormat  and some of the (rapidly receding, hooray) white stuff as well!

Lynn kindly put in some pretty post-its, some hand made cording (http://www.cindymaedesigns.com/ ) which will be very useful and some springy buttons, even the cord was called Spring Joy!

love, gillie

Ready for a New Exchange?

I meant to post this a few days ago, but we've had some serious medical problems at my house and I got distracted. Everything is good now, so don't worry. Who is ready for another exchange? March, April and May… hmmmm, what shall we stitch? We're just finishing up a lovely Spring Exchange, but since it's still in the teens at my house, with snow still on the ground, I'm soooooooooo wishing for Spring still -- I can't wait for the flowers and the beautiful colors they bring.

Our new exchange will be "In the Garden". This can be flowers but there is so much more in the garden that it is certainly not limited to flowers. You can do bird houses, toadstools, birds, squirrels, bunnies, butterflys, gnomes, oh my, the list is endless. picture

How about fairies in a lovely fantasy garden? Whatever you do see, or would like to see, or fantasize for your own garden. Then when you've got the design in mind, think about ways to "keep your stitching supplies" for a finish: needlebook, scissor fob, pin cushion, chatelein, floss holder, anything that can be used to help manage your supplies. Fabric is optional (yes you can use Aida). And as always anything over and above the actual stitched piece is Optional.

Ok, you have until the end of this weekpicture

Saturday, March 6, midnight US Central Standard Time to sign up. I will mail out partners before Monday, March 8 and the mailing date will be April 19th, just in time to add a little exchange piece to your 'stitching garden'.

To sign up for "In the Garden" exchange please send an e-mail to: yoyo_9203 at yahoo dot com. Please put "In the Garden Exchange" in the subject needlebook

line and please be sure to identify yourself clearly! We have a few duplicate names and I have already gotten some people confused so PLEASE let me know exactly who you are. It would be helpful if you put your full mailing address in this e-mail so I don't have to dig through my records (and that also helps to identify you).

If you would like to join our little exchange group and participate in this or future exchanges please send e-mail to: yoyo_9203 at yahoo.com. For a new member please include: 1) Your full name 2) your "screen name" 3) your full mailing address 4) an e-mail address for us to reach you, and if you like 5) your blog address. We welcome new members and would love to have you join us.

A little different 'needlebook'; pull on the bell and the needle piece slides into the flowered case. Sorry, I can’t remember where I found this one. If you know where this tutorial is please let me know and I’ll add a link here.

Some helpful links:

  • Faby Reilly: Finishing Tutorials pin cushion, scissor case, needlebook and others

  • Tintock Tap Use your own 'garden design' on a 15-sided biscornu, which is easy to do and makes a wonderful pin cushion.

  • There are more useful links in our sidebar.

I'm off to stalk the mailbox for entries. Hugs to all,

Clarifications

Boy you gals really like to keep me on my toes, don't ya. I never know how much to restrict the requirements for an exchange piece but apparently most of you don't like "no restrictions" either, or maybe it's just you want "some examples", I'm not sure. I have gotten several e-mails asking what are the requirements for the new exchange, "Ready for Spring"? or "what do mean, Yoyo, when you say 'Ready for Spring'." I guess it does mean different things to different people. Ok, so here are some examples -- with as few restrictions as possible.

For me Spring is a romantic time. Friends meeting again after a long winter apart. Lovers falling in love -- their hearts beating in time with the birds' merry songs. That music floating through the air carried to every flower, chick and bumble bee. The earth is reborn and renewed, cows and sheep and pigs and rabbits and fox, all rejoicing in Spring. Children hunting Easter Eggs through the daffodils and daisies. Rainbows of color bursting out in stripes and spots and polka dots. Babies laughing, farmers plowing and mothers stitching under a tree. So many beautiful biscornu, needlerolls, tea towels, pin keeps, greeting cards, samplers and ornaments falling from their laps. Friendship, happiness and love. That's what Spring means to me.

But yawl really should figure out what Spring is for you and go from there (LOL).

You have until January 22nd (midnight US Central time) to sign up for our "Ready for Spring" exchange. Send e-mail to yoyo_9203 at yahoo dot com including your name and mailing address in the body and 'Ready for Spring' in the Subject Line. As always, "extras" are never required for our exchanges, we respect the financial situation of all of our members. A 'stitched-by-you' item is the only requirement. Well, a little note that gives your name and the name of the exchange is helpful, too.

Happy Stitching

Hello from a new Aussie Member.!

Hello Ladies,

My name is Susi and I am from Victoria, Australia. I've been married almost a year to my darling Husband, Mark and together we have 4x doggies.

I love all types of cross stitching and especially love stitching with hand dyed Flosses, Fabrics, and Evenweaves/Linens.

Thank you again for letting me join,
Hugs and Happy Stitching,

Ready for Spring Exchange

I know I am really late in getting this out, but December was simply not a good month for me health wise. I am much better ('cause I know you'll ask) and I'm ready for it to be Spring. I thought by the time we get a new exchange done it will just about be here, so how about "Ready for Spring" for our new exchange?

Sign up for this exchange before January 22 (midnight US central time) and mailing date will be March 1, 2010. That's six weeks and a day -- I like to set the day on Monday just so you won't be late if you miss a Saturday date. To join "Ready for Spring" exchange send e-mail to yoyo_9203 at yahoo dot com. Please put Ready for Spring Exchange in the subject line.

There are still a few exchanges out, so if you have received your exchange please post a message on the board. If you have not received an exchange please let me know and I'll nudge your partner. I have sent a couple of 'nudges' -- you NEED to return my messages! If you are having trouble fulfilling an obligation we can help you out. We all know life happens but let's keep it good for our exchange partners by telling me if your life is happening too fast.

Have a lovely day whereever you are.
Happy Stitching
